Between April 2006 and June 2012, Okidata introduced the C300 and C500 family of color printers and MFPs. OEM-rated print speeds ranged from 16 pages per minute (ppm) to 31 ppm for black-and-white and 12 ppm to 27 ppm for color printing. Duty cycles ranged from 30,000 and 60,000 pages per month.
The supplies set for the C300 and C500 family is made up of four separate toner cartridges and one drum unit that contains four OPC drums (one for each color). Replacement toner cartridges are available in standard and high yield versions, but usage depends on the printer model and geographic market in which they are sold. Toner cartridge and drum unit SKUs also vary depending upon the market region in which they are sold.
All replacement toner cartridges require chips for the printers to function correctly. The starter cartridges that ship with the printer cannot, however, be remanufactured for use as replacement cartridges because they do not utilize a chip and a replacement chip cannot be installed due to the design of the cartridge.
